Overview

The no-false-lemmas analysis adds a fourth condition to justified true belief. It blocks Gettier's original cases because their true conclusions are reached through justified but false premises.

The condition does not remove every kind of epistemic luck. Later Gettier-style cases can produce justified true belief without any inference from a falsehood, so avoiding false lemmas may be necessary in some cases without being sufficient for knowledge.
